Thanks for sharing this -- I had no idea. Guess I'd better be paying more attention to new legislation.

Welcome to Metro Charlotte Patriots!

The goal is to have this site be a central resource for all things conservative in the Charlotte area, including information, opportunities, events, alerts, etc. Each member can help by contributing any news or information they think is beneficial to the group.
To help facilitate growth of the group and site:
1. INVITE anybody who's interested in smaller government, lower taxes and constitutional rights to join this site.
2. BE AN ACTIVE CONTRIBUTOR yourself! Be on the lookout for news of local, regional and state interest and post a comment, blog, create a discussion forum, etc.
3. Please join the groups that relate to the areas and issues you're interested in.
4. Please post any related events you're aware of on the Events Tab.
5. Send any comments, ideas or suggestions to Julie McKinney, Organizer

New Mission for Patriots!!

It became clear during this past municipal election that building the Republican party (ie: the conservative voice) precinct by precinct is the key to accomplishing anything positive at the local, state and national levels. With that in mind, the new mission of Metro Charlotte Patrtiots is to support individual county Republican parties - helping build strong precincts, generate a solid base of committed volunteers, solicit strong candidate, educate voters, register voters and encourage voter participation in all elections. There is much to accomplish before the crucial 2010 mid-term elections.

A group is forming which will actively take on supporting precinct organization within Mecklenburg county (and any other county in the Metro Charlotte area for which there is interest - Union, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, etc.). Future meetings will focus on topics such as party organization, party platform, activism, voter registration, etc. There is much at stake in our great country -- NOW is the time to focus on the fundamentals of what will bring the success we all want.

The basis of our work will be the five principles of republicanism: smaller government, lower taxes, free market economy, individual liberties and upholding the US Constitution.

PLEASE invite anyone you know who shares this interest to join the group and learn more about how to become effectively involved.

Save the Dates!

Rather than regularly scheduled meetings, Metro Charlotte Patriots get-togethers will now be held as primarily social events at least twice per year: Spring Conservative Cookout and Conservative Christmas Social. Additionally, conservative movie nights will be hosted on an as-announced basis.

Many of you have been spreading the word about this group, and inviting people you know to join us. There is now an information card that you can download and print to handout instead of having to remember the web address! They're formatted to print on Avery 8376 or 8371 pre-perforated card stock, as well as regular paper.MCP Cards.pdf

What You Can Do NOW . . .

Many concerned conservatives have been asking where to start or what they can do to make a difference. Here are some suggestions:
1. Determine whether you want to focus on local, state or national politics.
2. Choose ONE issue or candidate or elected official to track.
For issues, gather as much information as you can, subscribe to related blogs, be the "watchdog" for that particular issue.
For candidates, track their campaign, speak with them or their representative and find out what they stand for and what they promise to do if elected -- why are they a viable candidate and how do voters know they can count on them to maintain a conservative position?
For elected officials (those already in office), track their voting record, track news articles about them, know whether they have stayed true to conservative principles and values.
POST YOUR FINDINGS on this site (if you need assistance or suggestions, please contact Julie McKinney). Start discussions on the Forum about the person or issue you are taking on. Encourage input and support from other members.
3. Have every conservative you know join this group and be willing to participate. Participation does NOT necessarily mean attending any meetings, but it does include volunteering to do research, make phone calls, and be active in discussions on this site.

Remember that there is strength in numbers. Not one of us can focus on or track every issue. But if we "divide and conquer" we WILL make a difference -- in the 2010 elections and beyond. And in some cases, we will have an impact on items already on the floor of the current Congress. For example, fighting against nationalize healthcare. Fighting against amnesty for all illegals. And, as you know, many more.

North Carolina schools to only teach the Reformer/Progressive era

In the late 19th century, the progressives came back from colleges in Germany, and Britain, where they learned the greatness of socialism and the teachings of Marx and Engels. They were also called reformers. Reform being government control over industry and everyday life. Fast forward to today where the progressives are showing their "enlightened" Marxist teeth. The 60s radicals who, believe in the "Progress" of government control, now control our school systems. Which makes today's Foxnews… Continue

My response to AARP recruitment letter - Short and sweet

To whom it may concern:

Please remove my name from your mailing list. AARP has supported a healthcare bill that reduces Medicare benefits and most likely rations healthcare to seniors. All this so AARP can sell supplemental "gap" insurance. AARP has sold it's soul to the Obama administration. Let them support you.

The 5 Principles of Republicanism......applied

Since becoming politically active (the last 120 days) and continuing to grow the ranks of Take Back The Republican Party here and all across the country, I came to realize that one of the challenges we have is what is "Conservative", "Liberal", "Moderate", "Libertarian", "Democrat", "Independent", "Republican"? These labels are challenging because if you ask 100 people, you will get 100 different answers.

In thinking that through further, it became clear to me (and I hope it will… Continue

Who are the extremists?

I recently started my own blog, http://lawlessko.blogspot.com/ and this is my latest entry. I would also ask for you to watch this youtube video of Nancy Pelosi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGRUx2b0ArM

Who are the extremists? Are they the one's appointing self avowed communists, people that want to put sterilants in the drinking water, and tax cheats to positions of power? Or are they the one's working their tails off every day just to pay their bills, and of course their… Continue

My letter to Peolsi 8/5/09

Ms. Pelosi:

I just saw a news blurb that featured you with a fine example of your vain attempt to explain away the concerned constituents of the United States that attending the town hall meetings to voice their opposition to the government run healthcare takeover.

Those of us that oppose your socialized medicine obviously see things differently than you and the other socialists that support this legislation that you are attempting to force down the throats of the American… Continue
